The Federal style Charleston manor was originally built in the late 18th century by Revolutionary War hero Christopher Gadsden who presented his son with the property as a wedding gift.
The home served the Gadsden family for many generations until the mid 20th century when the Historic Charleston Foundation began revitalizing the historic Ansonborough neighborhood + converted the private residence into several apartments + local office space.
