Whippoorwill Hill is a breath-taking historic farm six miles from the heart of Downtown Bloomington, Indiana. The farm is completely secluded, sits on 130 rolling acres, and boasts two barns and one farmhouse built prior to 1900. The farm and venue are both family owned and operated. Whippoorwill Hill is the perfect combination of a tidy working farm, historic landmark, and chic event space owned, maintained and operated by people who genuinely care about you and your event.

We want our farm to be the most romantic and memorable space for our guests and work hard to make that happen. From birthdays to graduations, formals and corporate events - slow down and celebrate the seasons of life at the farm. We were beyond pleased with how our wedding turned out and cannot thank Anne and Whippoorwill Hill for making our dream wedding come to life!

We continue to receive compliments from our guest on what a beautiful venue it was. Whippoorwill Hill is a MUST see and you will not be disappointed in your decision to make such wonderful memories at this venue!
Services
Jeff and I met in late 2012 and connected over a love of family, food and farming.
After communicating back and forth for a few months, he asked my son, Slate, and I to come over to Brownstown and ride his combine during harvest.
One round through a corn field, Slate was Jeff's biggest fan.
We visited Jeff frequently and our relationship naturally progressed to the three of us being together all the time.
Since then, Jeff, Slate and I have been a team.
We love working hard together and playing hard too.
The Russell Barn (the wedding barn) was erected in 1892 in Manilla, Indiana-just outside of Shelbyville and moved to Bloomington in 2016.
A few months later, well on our way to planning our own wedding in a tent, my dad called me and said that his cousin, Steve, knew of a barn in Shelbyville that the owners wanted off of their farm ground.
The barn was very old, and was falling down in sections.
The siding was coming off, and getting in the way of the family's farming operation.
After a quick conversation with my dad, our hopes were very low with what the barn would look like - until we saw the pictures.
For years, the Tatum farm was cut for hay and used as pasture ground for cattle.
After we closed on the property, multiple soil borings were gathered.
The soil health was found to be less than favorable, so Jeff planted soybeans, as they create their own nitrogen.
He plans to work to get the fertility back and eventually rotate soybeans, corn and wheat crops on the 50 tillable acres.
The remaining acreage will be pasture ground and cut for hay.
The pasture ground will sustain a 20-30 cow herd.
The farm has a mixture of Red and Black Angus cattle as well as some Charolais cross cattle.
We live in the Land of the Free, only because of our Brave.
Whippoorwill Hill is honored to offer a 10% veterans discount to our guests who have honorably served in our military.

The end time annotates when music must be turned off per the county ordnance & the party must end.
Guests or their representatives have access to the facility for an additional two hours after closing time for clean up.
The farm is six miles to downtown Bloomington, Indiana and all of the associated amenities of a college town; hotel rooms, taxi services, Uber access, ample catering choices, as well as historic charm and character.
