First and foremost, as the couple I marry looks into each other's eyes, hearts, and souls and speaks their vows that bind them together in marriage, they tell me that because they had carte blanche in the decisions and creation of their ceremony that it definitely IMPACTED them in a unique way.

NYS marriage licenses must be used with NYS only.
The betrothed couple must apply in person for the marriage license to any town or city clerk in the state.
The license application must be signed by both applicants in the presence of the clerk.
A representative, even with Power of Attorney, cannot apply for the license on behalf of the applicant.
The couple MUST personally appear to apply for their license.
There is a waiting period of 24 hours and is good for 60 days.
If one or both of the couple were previously married they must provide a certified copy of their Divorce Decree or Dissolution of Marriage to the clerk issuing their marriage license.
The betrothed couple must apply in person for the marriage license to any town or city clerk in the state.
The license application must be signed by both applicants in the presence of the clerk.

Several years back, I myself was in the midst of such a circumstance when I met a lady while I was at work who had just come back to the States after attending a family wedding at Culzean Castle in Scotland.
She described the Round Drawing Room with ornate cornices on its round ceiling and throughout the room, enormous windows with sea views, and a huge crystal chandelier and elaborate furnishings.
At about fifteen minutes before the start of the ceremony we went into the beautiful Round Drawing Room.
