Services
The Historical Chapel is a privately owned landmark of the Town of Oyster Bay.
It is one of a handful of historic landmarks that still grace the North Shore of Long Island with its beauty and charm.
Originally built in 1852 as a Methodist church, the chapel has always been a gathering place for people.
The chapel was eventually taken over by the Church of the Latter Day Saints and functioned as a primary place of worship for many years.
Abandoned in 1993, the chapel sat vacant and unused.
In 1997, current owner, Matthew Delaney, purchased the property as part of a project to restore the landmark to its original condition and offer it as a unique setting for wedding and remembrance services.
For most brides, the answer is either in their place of worship or a reception hall.
Many brides do not have a place of worship.
Or they have family and friends who are very diverse, so they would like to be in a neutral location, which leaves a reception hall or town hall for a justice of the peace wedding.
These can be very limiting for atmosphere, memory making, and pictures.
Imagine a lovely, quaint chapel from the Victorian era as the backdrop for your wedding pictures.
The Historical Chapel can be the best option for brides and grooms who want a charming place for their wedding ceremony.
For many reasons couples choose to go to the courthouse to get married.
Some small towns have nice, quaint courthouses, but for the most part, they are usually cold, office-like surroundings, and not really conducive to great memories or beautiful photo ops.
We provide a great option to the courthouse wedding, in the beautiful Historical Chapel.
Have photos taken as the sunlight streams through the stained-glass windows, while the bride walks down the aisle.
Ring the chapel bell to celebrate your nuptials.
We know that life does not always bring happiness, but will often lead us to times of extreme grief.
Our serene and peaceful chapel, with its warm tones invites the broken-hearted to gather, in order to remember a dear loved one or friend.
Traditional funeral homes often are costly and lacking in the warmth and friendly atmosphere that is so needed at such a distressing time.
We are here to provide compassionate guidance, taking the stress out of planning and allowing you to rest and spend time with your family and friends, while remembering your loved one.
The Historical Chapel, as a privately owned historical landmark is available for any special event, sacred or secular.
This Victorian era building has been updated to be comfortably air conditioned in the summer and heated in the winter.
The chapel can host up to 100 guests, with ample parking in an onsite parking lot.
We are very easily found off major highways and main roads.
The chapel is a beautiful gathering area on the first floor.
The pews are original and refinished to show off the warm mahogany wood.
