I received my bachelor's degree from New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study.
There I met one of the most incredible women I will ever know - Roz Wilder, my academic advisor and professor.
She was a lively, whimsical, intuitive, and inspiring 70-(or maybe 80-) something year old woman.
One of her classes was a course called The Art of Play, in which Roz led us through an exploration of the role that play has in our personal childhood and adult lives, as well as the universal role it plays in society in regard to freedom, connection, adventure, creativity, innovation and development.
I passionately believe in the necessity and the power of ceremony and ritual as part of the human experience.
Ceremonies and rituals help us transition and evolve through life from one state of being to another.
They allow us to acknowledge growth and change, they create meaning, they make moments sacred, and they act a source of security and stability to pass us through to the next phase of our lives.
Ceremonies and rituals create connection for the individual to him/herself, to another person, to the community, to the spirit, and to the present moment.
Marisa Campbell has been a Certified Celebrant for seven years, specializing in weddings and vow renewals.
She is dedicated to and energized by providing personalized ceremonies to people of all cultures, faiths and genders.
Marisa came to Celebrancy through her own inter-faith marriage, and the realization that every marriage, regardless of where it takes place and by whom it is conducted, should be a celebratory and/or sacred event.
With these beliefs held firmly in her heart, Marisa approaches each ceremony and couple she encounters with creativity, love and open-heartedness.
First, contact me to check my availability for your ceremony!
If I am available, your initial inquiry will put a temporary hold on your date and time for up to three days with no deposit required.
The next step is a complimentary consultation, which can be done over the phone, on a video call, or at an in-person meeting.
This is a time for us to get to know each other and make sure we are a good fit for one another.
It also allows me to learn about the vision you have for your ceremony.
There is no cost or obligation for our initial meeting, and even those who do not go on to work with me find this time together valuable for the opportunity to reflect on their story and articulate their wishes for their ceremony.
Here is a collection of real weddings from my experience as a wedding officiant in Long Island and NYC.
Here's a collection of some of the real weddings I have performed as a Celebrant on Long Island and in New York City.
The ceremony we hoped for.
Danielle was an absolute pleasure to work with.
She helped us determine the tone and the content we wanted for our ceremony and composed it according to our wishes, and at the wedding presented our story with warmth and sincerity (and a bit of humor!).
